2027 Annular Solar Eclipse Path & Map: NASA Track, Argentina & Uruguay

The orange band shows the South American annularity path from NASA/GSFC WGS84 limits. Use it to answer the first important question — will I be inside the path? — then choose a travel base by historical weather, accommodation and mobility.

Argentina

The path crosses Patagonia and the Atlantic coast

Esquel, Viedma, Mar del Plata, Necochea and other modelled bases lie inside the annular zone. Buenos Aires itself is outside the path and sees a partial eclipse.

Uruguay

Annularity reaches eastern Uruguay

Punta del Este, Maldonado, La Paloma, Rocha and Punta del Diablo are practical travel bases. Montevideo works as a gateway but gets only a partial eclipse.

We do not sketch the path by eye

North/south limits and the central line come from the NASA/GSFC WGS84 path table. Near an edge, remember lunar-limb topography can shift the practical limit by roughly 1–3 km.

The path is astronomical data: north/south limits and the central line are converted directly from the NASA/GSFC WGS84 path table. Published points are spaced at 120-second intervals, which NASA states is adequate for larger-scale plots.
